Oh boy! Spring fever has sunk in in my classroom! It seems like each week is crazier than the one before it. It's okay though because spring break starts TODAY! To celebrate, I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for the always fabulous Five for Friday.
We started our Baseball Math Centers this week and the kids are loving them! These centers cover a little bit of everything, including addition, subtraction, number sequencing, measurement, time, and more.
We're wrapping up our measurement unit and integrating a few fairy tales with it. We read Rapunzel on Tuesday, made a picture of her complete with crepe paper hair, and measured her hair with tiles. They turned out really cute!
I also found this most awesome Scotch tape that looks like a measuring tape. We read "How Big is a Foot," then I gave the kiddos a foot long section of tape and had them work in pairs to find things that were longer and shorter than a foot. They loved this! And they were so focused! (That's a hard thing to do on a rainy day!)
Wednesday was stormy and dark all day. What better way to spend a dreary day than by doing a little flashlight reading? I grabbed some mini finger flashlights at Halloween so there were enough for everyone to have their own. The kids were in heaven.
I started reading Ron Clark's The Excellent 11 this week and I LOVE it. If you haven't read a Ron Clark book yet, go do it! They are great, easy, inspirational reads and you won't regret it.
This afternoon is the beginning of spring break. I see pajamas, a TLC binge watching session, and takeout in my future tonight. Can't. Wait. (It's funny how when you're 20, that's a really lame evening, but when you're a teacher in your 30's with kids at home too, that's pure heaven!)
How was your week? Let me know in the comments below then head over to Doodle Bugs Teaching for more Five for Friday fun. Have a great weekend!
