Peek at My Week (3/29/15)

Welcome back for another fabulous Peek at My Week! This week is a short week AND it's the first two days of testing for the "big kids." This means we have to be quiet for TWO DAYS! BLEH! Sooooooo....we have lots of quiet fun things to do to keep us from all loosing our minds engaged.

In writing this week, we'll be doing this directed drawing from Mrs. Jump's Class, a kite diamante poem, a spring acrostic poem, and a little peeps writing.

Math is more adding and subtracting practice. As part of our celebration for the end of testing, on Wednesday we'll have a little egg hunt and add the jelly beans inside the eggs we find. Our new math centers will be added to the choices this week, too.

Thursday is the annual egg drop event. The kids are making a holder for their raw egg so that it doesn't crack when dropped. The principal gets the tallest ladder we have and drops each of the 150 kinder kid creations off the top and, when we're ALL done, we go back to the class to graph which ones made the grade and which didn't. It's always a fun mess.

We'll be extending our living and nonliving unit to include other animal things. The kids are going to get in groups be grouped and will be given a type of animal (birds, bears, fish, frogs) to research. They'll have Monday, Tuesday, and part of Wednesday to work on it and then teach the class what they learned at the end of science on Wednesday.

Thursday is all about peeps. One of my girls asked for play dough of every color, so we'll be making peeps play dough. We'll also paint a (printed) peep with puffy paint and explore peeps with my newest science investigation set.

It's going to be a short but super busy week, and full of so much fun. Our ladybugs should be in soon, too. I can't wait to get them started!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to see what everyone else is up to over at Mrs. Willis' Kindergarten.

Celebrating the Spring in Our Step Linky and Giveaway!

So I was contacted about this Spring Birthday/Milestone Celebration Linky by the amazing Lisa at PAWSitively Teaching, and I started thinking about all the milestones I have achieved this year. I honestly don't know where to begin...

I opened a Teachers Pay Teachers store in the middle of January.

I went to my first blogger meet-up at the end of January where I met some amazing people! It was a huge deal for me to walk into a room of people I didn't know personally, especially as the new kid on the blog. I didn't stay long, but I am very appreciative of the friendly faces that were there and made me feel welcome.

We've had some huge changes at home as well. I won't go into too much detail, but I am excited to see where the future takes us.

February 1st, I made my first sale! (I got the email while I was out to lunch with my family. I think I made a scene with all the excitement that came with it!)

Shortly after, I registered for the TpT and the ITeachK conferences in Las Vegas this summer. I can't begin to express how excited I am to go! I spent a good chunk of my spring break working on new products and I can't wait to get more tips and tricks to make them even better!

Spring in our town means lots of bluebonnets...

and Deutschen Pfest. This is the town's annual heritage festival. (Our town name starts with "Pf" so anytime ANYTHING starts with "F," we throw a "P" in front. It's a little wacky, but it's tradition.)

It has been nerve racking at times with everything going on, and keeping up with everyone's schedules has been a beast, (we have kids in baseball, soccer, track, band, after school tutoring, and soon to be swim) but I have been working long and hard on letting go and letting God. He has great plans for us and Lord knows I can't do it without Him.

Like I said earlier, I spent most of spring break working on new resources. You can check them out below. Just click on any of the images below to go straight to the store.

I said I was busy... ;)

And a couple little freebies for you:

Whew! That was a lot! Thanks for sticking around to the end and be sure to register for one of the prizes below! Be sure to follow my store so you can stay posted on what's new and happening! Have a great day!

Five for Friday (3/27/15)

TGIF y'all! It was the first week back at school since spring break and what a week it was! We're down to 44 days of school left, but who's counting?

So, this week we've been studying living and nonliving things. Wednesday we took a nature walk to find examples of each. The kids were hilarious but they really got into it.

And today we compared living and nonliving things. A teammate found this awesome pack from First Grade Wow. So we had gummy worms and live worms and compared the two. I have some boys I thought would be way into it and they were a little squeamish of the worms. And some of my girls I thought would shy away from them but they were all over it.

(This is the conversation Ben and I had just before the worms came out.)

This morning we FINALLY made our "I wish" poems. It's been in the lesson plan for weeks but something always happens the day we're going to do it. But they turned out great!

And now, it's Friday night. Next week is a short week. The "big kids" have testing Monday and Tuesday so we have lots of quiet fun things to do until they're finished. Thursday will be a blast with all our Easter not Easter things and then it's a 3 day weekend!

Tomorrow is my son's first baseball game of the season and opening ceremonies. We'll be living at the fields 3 days a week till the middle of May. Then swim season will start. Good thing we got a schedule board.

Check in with everyone else at Doodlebugs Teaching for this week's Five for Friday.
